Position Description

The Youth Program Coordinator is a full-time in-person position at the Alaska Native Heritage Center (ANHC) and reports directly to the After School Program Manager. The coordinator should implement the ANHC Ten Universal Values in their work and support the ANHC mission of “ANHC preserves and strengthens the traditions, languages, and arts of Alaska’s Native Peoples through statewide collaboration, celebration, and education.” The After School Program is intended to provide year-round programming and promote middle school and high school success for Alaska Native youth. The program provides opportunities to learn cultural knowledge and values through interactive, hands-on activities and coordinates homework assistance. Coordinator responsibilities are working closely with the After School Program Manager to help ensure execution of daily activities for youth by preparing program supplies, engaging with contractors, assisting with hands-on teaching and coordinating transportation. The coordinator will track data for reporting, assist families with applications, and conduct light meal preparation. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Must be able to work later hours, typically 11AM-7PM. Must be able to drive youth in a company van. Coordinate project activities, resources, equipment, and information. Work with the project manager to ensure the execution of the project plan.

Key Requirements & Qualifications

  • Proven work experience as a coordinator or similar role.
  • Ability to break down a cultural activity into steps for youth to follow.
  • Ability to follow written direction.
  • Have basic writing and public speaking skills.
  • Hands-on experience with educational projects.
