The Iditarod Trail Committee (ITC) seeks a visionary and entrepreneurial Chief Executive Officer to lead "The Last Great Race" into its next chapter. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO serves as the organization's chief executive, responsible for strategic leadership, financial sustainability, stakeholder engagement, operational excellence, and long-term growth that supports the mission of the organization. The Iditarod is far more than an annual race. It is a year-round nonprofit organization operating at the intersection of sport, tourism, sponsorship, community engagement, media, education, retail, fundraising and animal welfare. The organization coordinates complex operations across remote Alaska while bringing together mushers, veterinarians, volunteers, sponsors, donors, Alaska Native and rural communities, government agencies, media partners, and fans from around the world. Starting salary is anticipated to be $160,000; however, the Iditarod Trail Committee recognizes exceptional experience and qualifications and may offer a higher starting salary for candidates whose background closely aligns with the organization's needs and strategic priorities. Key Requirements & Qualifications
- Lead the strategic direction and long-term sustainability of the organization.
- Senior executive leadership experience in a nonprofit, business, association, or similarly complex organization.
- Experience overseeing organizational strategy, financial management, governance, and risk management.
- Exceptional relationship-building and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience leading through change, growth, and complex organizational challenges.
