Position Description

POSITION: Head Start Cook LOCATION: Unalaska, AK REPORTS TO: Unalaska Head Start Site Coordinator WORK SCHEDULE: Full-Time – 37.5 hrs. per week SALARY: $20.40-$22.29 Per Hour DUTIES: Prepare meals and snacks, 5 days a week, following the Child and Adult Care Food Program meal pattern requirements. Complete a Daily Menu and Production Record for each meal served. Shop at a local grocery store weekly. Meet regularly with other staff to evaluate the meal program and to plan for nutrition learning experiences for children. Clean and sanitize all kitchen and dining areas, dishes, pots, pans, and utensils used in meal service. Teach children how to prepare for breakfast and lunch, wash their hands, and set the table. Follow all applicable regulations for safe storage of refrigerated, frozen, and dry food. Keep accurate inventory records. Calculate food consumption and request approval for food purchases and follow A/PIA policy regarding purchase orders. QUALIFICATIONS: At least 18 years of age with a high school diploma/GED; physically/mentally able to work with young children and their families; and the willingness to be trained on nutrition and food service guidelines sponsored by Head Start.
