Position Description

The Staff Accountant supports day-to-day accounting operations, maintaining accurate financial records, executing month-end close procedures, and ensuring overall compliance with GAAP. This position plays a critical role in maintaining the integrity of the general ledger, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting, and supporting compliance with federal regulations, including Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), and Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) requirements. Within a cybersecurity and software engineering environment, the Staff Accountant ensures proper accounting for labor-intensive contracts, indirect cost allocations, project cost structures, and compliance with government cost principles. This role supports a DCAA-ready accounting environment and collaborates closely with forecast, planning and analysis (FP&A), contracts, and operations to ensure accurate financial reporting for federal programs. Major Activities (Typical Duties/Responsibilities) Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations and supporting schedules.

Key Requirements & Qualifications

  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, OSCG policies, government contracting requirements and applicable regulatory standards.
  • Strong knowledge of government contracting financial structures, cost accounting, and compliance requirements.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate financial data and records to support business operations and decision-making.
  • Knowledge of, and ability to apply, generally accepted accounting principles and reporting standards including thorough understanding of payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash receipts and general ledger.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, verbal, and technical communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across all organizational levels and communicate complex financial information to internal and external stakeholders.
