Position Description
Civil Engineer – Transportation Project Engineer PND Engineers, Inc. is seeking a licensed Civil Engineer to join our Anchorage, Alaska office in a transportation-focused role. This position will support and lead surface transportation and related civil infrastructure projects throughout Alaska, from preliminary engineering and field reconnaissance through final design, bidding, and construction support. This is an opportunity to work on a wide range of public and private civil engineering projects while contributing to practical, meaningful infrastructure in Alaska’s unique environment. Under the general direction of a Principal, you will lead projects for public and private surface transportation and similar infrastructure improvements – including preliminary engineering & field reconnaissance thru final design & advertising. Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams, including civil, structural, geotechnical, environmental, survey, utility, traffic, hydrology, electrical, right-of-way, and construction personnel. Prepare and oversee production of engineering deliverables, including plans, specifications, estimates, calculations, design reports, and other technical documents. Support construction administration and inspection efforts.
Key Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree with a major in engineering from an ABET accredited school.
- Professional Civil Engineer registration in Alaska, or current PE registration in Civil Engineering from another U.S. jurisdiction with the ability to obtain Alaska registration within 6 months of hire.
- At least 5 years of relevant professional civil engineering experience. Transportation, roadway, or highway design experience preferred.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and coordinate with clients, agencies, subconsultants, and internal project teams.
- Experience with AutoCAD and Civil 3D, as well as other engineering software applications.
