Assistant Coach - Men's/Women's X/C Running and Indoor/Outdoor Track and Field The University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) Department of Athletics is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Assistant Coach - Men's/Women's X/C Running and Indoor/Outdoor Track and Field. Seawolf Athletics is a member of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC), and competes in multiple National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) divisions. The Seawolf program features 13 teams competing at both the Division I and Division II levels. As an Assistant Coach, you will assist with coaching, recruiting, academic success of student-athletes, student-athlete monitoring, strength and conditioning, and administrative support for the intercollegiate Division II men's and women's cross country running and indoor/outdoor track and field programs. To thrive in this position, an individual working as an Assistant Coach at UAA needs to enjoy the intercollegiate athletics environment; have a passion to serve student-athletes for their health, safety and wellness. It is also important to understand the part they play in coaching and guiding the student-athletes in academics and competition. This balance takes strong convictions and the ability to build positive relationships with student-athletes, trainers, coaches and staff. In addition, this individual needs to possess the ability to establish a personal work-life rhythm that provides healthy boundaries, between work and personal life.
Key Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in related field and three years relevant coaching experience at the collegiate level, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Master's degree preferred.
- Relevant coaching experience as a cross country running and indoor/outdoor track and field coach at the collegiate Division I and/or Division II level, and/or junior level preferred. Experience in long distance running preferred.
- AED, CPR and First Aid certification or certification completion within 30 days of the job start date and/or before having contact/meeting with student-athletes, whichever date is sooner.
- FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) certification, or certification completion within 30 days of the job start date.
- UA Safe Title IX certification or certification completion within 30 days of the job start date.
