Position Description

Assistant Director of Communications The University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) is recruiting for an Assistant Director of Communications for the Enrollment Services Department. If you have experience with communications or working within the field of enrollment we encourage you to apply! The Assistant Director of Communications works with Enrollment Services to lead marketing and communications initiatives that support recruitment and engagement. This position coordinates campaigns and projects, supervises and mentors staff, manages creative and print production, and ensures communications align with UAA and UA brand and accessibility standards. The Assistant Director also serves as a creative and marketing resource, guiding projects from concept to completion while promoting quality, consistency, and effective communication. To thrive in this role a successful candidate would bring professional experience in communications, marketing, or a related field, along with strong writing, visual design, and multimedia skills. They would be a creative problem solver who can work independently, provide guidance and feedback, evaluate projects, and confidently use a variety of communications tools and technologies. Strong collaboration, cross cultural communication, research, and supervisory skills will help with effectively leading projects and supporting the team's success. Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications or related field and four years of progressively responsible communications experience relevant to the program, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
