Position Description

CT3 Instrumentation Mechanic - University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF) Are you ready to take your career to the next level as a CT3 Instrumentation Mechanic at UAF ? This role is your gateway to advanced technical work, hands-on problem solving, and continuous professional growth. In this position, you will play a key role in resolving complex work-related issues while performing technical analyses of building plans and process diagrams. Your responsibilities will include optimizing process sequences, preventative and reactive maintenance on instrumentation and controls, administering computerized building control systems, and inspecting projects for compliance with applicable codes and specifications. You'll work both independently and as part of a collaborative team, contributing to a positive and productive workplace. This role requires the ability to interpret and apply mathematical concepts and technical instructions, define problems, collect and analyze data, and draw sound conclusions in a dynamic, real-world setting. A successful candidate will demonstrate a strong understanding of technical procedures and the ability to read and interpret professional journals, plans, and detailed technical documentation. Excellent communication skills are essential, as you will be responsible for presenting information, writing reports, and working closely with fellow employees and management. A proactive, safety-focused mindset and a positive approach to teamwork are critical to success. Proficiency in mathematics, including basic Physics and Process Technologies, and basic statistics is recommended to support troubleshooting, analysis, and system optimization. Your attention to detail, technical expertise, and commitment to compliance will be central to thriving in this role.

Key Requirements & Qualifications

  • *Requires a minimum of 1 year related experience and/or training in instrumentation, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • *Process Technology Degree preferred.
  • *Must have a valid driver's license.
