Position Description
HR Coordinator & Accounting Technician This position is an entry-level position providing day-to-day administrative support in human resources, payroll, and fiscal/accounting operations for the College of Natural Science and Mathematics. Working under established processes, this position assists with day-to-day employment, payroll and fiscal activities. This position provides an opportunity to develop practical experience in human resources, accounting, payroll and university administrative functions. Approximately 50% of the position's responsibilities support HR functions with the remaining 50% supporting fiscal activities. The successful candidate will assists with routine employment and payroll processes, recruitment support, appointment documentation, pre-payroll review, labor distribution, and related administrative activities. They will receive training in applicable University of Alaska systems, procedures, and processes and will progressively develop the knowledge and skills necessary to perform the full range of assigned duties. The position works under the direct supervision of the CNSM HR Manager and indirectly with the Fiscal Manager as appropriate. The position is expected to follow established procedures, maintain accurate records, protect confidential information, and seek guidance when questions or situations fall outside established processes and knowledge. CNSM has around 200 employees during the academic year with an additional 60 faculty whose assignments are split with a research institute. To thrive in this role, you will be organized, detail-oriented, dependable, and interested in developing your knowledge of human resources, payroll, accounting, and university administrative processes. You should be comfortable working with established procedures, managing multiple routine deadlines, reviewing information for accuracy, and following through on tasks.
Key Requirements & Qualifications
- -One year college coursework in human resources, accounting, finance, business or related field; AND -Two years of related work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
