The investigator position at the University of Alaska Fairbanks' Office of Rights, Compliance and Accountability conducts inquiries and investigations to evaluate compliance with University policies, procedures, and programs on discrimination, discriminatory harassment, sexual misconduct, retaliation, employee conduct and ethics. The investigator is part of a team of workplace investigators examining reports utilizing a compassionate approach, acting as a neutral third party throughout all aspects of the workplace investigative process, ensuring a well-documented, prompt, and fair handling of the report. This position will work closely with students, faculty and staff, stakeholders, Human Resources, Department of Residence Life, Office of Research Integrity and others throughout campus, as necessary. We are seeking a candidate with exceptional critical thinking and judgment skills, with a proven ability to analyze and apply legal and policy standards to a variety of situations. The ideal candidate will have strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to prioritize and manage multiple high-stakes projects, meet deadlines, and maintain detailed records with minimal supervision.

Key Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and five years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience with at least two years of investigatory experience.
  • A preference will be given to individuals who hold a J.D. and have demonstrated experience in fact-gathering requiring interviews.
